Course Description – 50 Hours

This is a comprehensive personal care instruction course designed to cover the following

Ambulation
Body Mechanics
Client Safety
Environmental Safety
Homemaking
Nutrition
Universal Precautions

This course will qualify an individual with the necessary skills to be able to provide direct care to consumers in Assisted Living Facilities, Residential Care Facilities, Adult Day Care Programs, and Home Care settings. Students completing this course and interested in taking a Certified Nurse Aide Course (C.N.A) within two years, may receive credit for Modules 1–6 of the C.N.A. training course.

Requirements

As of September 1, 2003, this course takes the place of the RCS–1 course. It is required by anyone employed in Assisted Living or Home Health Care, working for more than 20 hours a week. It must be taken within 120 days of employment starting date. Anyone who already has their RCS–1 certification before September 1, 2003 does not have to repeat this course.

Students must be 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED to qualify to take the PSS Training Course. All class hours must be met in order for the student to receive a certificate from DHHS/BEAS.

Students wishing to take the LIVE online course must have a computer, webcam and email which is accessible on a regular basis for all communications with our course instructors. In addition, you must be able to travel to our site for 2 full days of actual skills training after completion of the online curriculum before becoming approved for certification.

Online Class Schedules - 2011 *** SIGN UP TODAY!

This course was designed to allow students to work at their own pace, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, over a 7 week period. Each student must successfully complete each module and exam before moving forward into the next lesson. The option to complete before the 7 week deadline is possible, and depends upon the student, and the time they set aside in their personal schedules to do the online curriculum. Students must also complete an additional 10 hours of skills training, following the completion of the online curriculum. Once these 2 guidelines are successfully completed, the student will receive full certification.

Agencies – If the above schedule(s) do not meet the demand for your staff training needs, our instructors are available to train within your facility. Please contact us directly, for more information and to see if you meet the student minimum requirements for this service.

In addition, if you are sponsoring students to take the PSS online course and would like to have our instructors visit your site for the skills portion of the course, we would be more than happy to accommodate you. Please contact us for more details.

All classes must be paid at the time of registration. To avoid delays in processing your request, please submit the full payment with your application. Once your application has been processed, you will be contacted with a confirmation. Please allow up to 5 business days to process your background check and payment method.

If you are being sponsored by another agency/entity, or need to discuss further arrangements for payment, please notify our office so that prior approval can be determined in order to enroll you into the class on time.

REFUND POLICY

Full tuition refund will be given to those who submit a written request of cancellation up to 3 days prior to the first scheduled class. There will be no tuition refund available once a student has entered into the first day of class; or has not notified the agency of their intent to drop the course; or has failed to reschedule into a later class, prior to the original starting date he/she was enrolled.
