This is a comprehensive personal care instruction course designed to cover the following:

This course will qualify an individual with the necessary skills to be able to provide direct care to consumers in Assisted Living Facilities, Residential Care Facilities, Adult Day Care Programs, and Home Care settings. Students completing this course and interested in taking a Certified Nurse Aide Course (C.N.A) within two years, may receive credit for Modules 1–6 of the C.N.A. training course.

As of September 1, 2003, this course takes the place of the RCS–1 course. It is required by anyone employed in Assisted Living or Home Health Care, working for more than 20 hours a week. It must be taken within 120 days of employment starting date. Anyone who already has their RCS–1 certification before September 1, 2003 does not have to repeat this course.

Students must be 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED to qualify to take the PSS Training Course.  All class hours must be met in order for the student to receive a certificate from DHHS/BEAS. 

Students wishing to take the online course must have a computer and email which is accessible on a regular basis for all communications with our course instructors.  In addition, you must be able to travel to our site for 2 full days of actual skills training after completion of  the online curriculum before becoming approved for certification.

Tuition: Per Student - $200

Registration Fee (non-refundable): $25

To avoid delays in processing your request, please submit the registration fee with your application. This must be done as soon as possible.  Once your application has been processed and approved, you will be contacted with a confirmation. At this time, you will be expected to make payment for the remaining fees. All payments are to be received in our office before the first class begins.

If you are being sponsored by another agency or entity, and/or need to discuss further arrangements for payment, please notify our office so that prior approval can be determined in order to get you enrolled into the class on time.

Online Class Schedules - 2008

 This course was designed to allow students to work at their own pace, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, over a 7 week period.  Each student must successfully complete each module and exam before moving forward into the next lesson.  The option to complete before the 7 week deadline is possible, and depends upon the student, and the time they set aside in their personal schedules to do the online curriculum.  Students must also complete an additional 2 full days of skills training, following the completion of the online curriculum.  Once these 2 guidelines are successfully completed, the student will receive full certification.
